Passport & Visa Requirements

Passport Basics:

  • Validity Rule: Most countries require your passport be valid for 6 months BEYOND your return date. Check this before you book.

  • Processing Times: Routine = 6-8 weeks. Expedited = 2-3 weeks. Emergency = additional fees and stress. Don't wait until the last minute.

  • Blank Pages: Many countries require 2-4 blank pages in your passport. Check before you travel.

  • Renewals: If your passport expires within a year, renew it before booking international travel.

For Cruises:

  • Closed Loop Cruises (round-trip from US ports): US citizens can use birth certificate + government ID, but we recommend passports

  • Open Jaw or International: Passport required, no exceptions

  • Why Passports Are Better: If you miss the ship at a port and need to fly to catch up, you'll need a passport

Visa Requirements:

  • Varies by Destination: Some countries require visas; others don't. We tell you what you need for your specific trip.

  • Processing Time: Some visas take weeks or months. Plan ahead.

  • Transit Visas: Sometimes required even if just connecting through a country

How We Help: We tell you exactly what documents you need for your destination and flag any potential issues before you book. No surprises at the airport.
